Microsoft has posted a list of applications that will be incompatible with Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

Issues range from performance glitches to software failing to run or start when the service pack is installed.

Several antivirus applications are known to be affected, including BitDefender 10, Jiangmin's KV 10 and KV 2008 and Trend Micro Internet Security 2008.

All three vendors have posted updates which make the software compatible with the new version of Vista.

Microsoft also listed several programs which will not run once SP1 is installed, including Xheo Licensing 3.1 and Iron Speed Designer 5.0.1 both of which have updates available.

Fujitsu's Shock Sensor utility is also disabled by the update, while Free Allegiance RPG is still awaiting a compatibility update to one of its components.

Three other applications are said to experience additional performance issues, such as crashes or loss of functionality.

The New York Times Reader application crashes when a user attempts to right click, while the Rising Personal Firewall utility is unable to disconnect. Updates for both applications are available.

Not yet fixed is an issue with Novell's ZCM Agent 10.01, which is not supported by Vista SP1.
